PROTEK GI: Total Digestive Health & GI Support
Designed for horses, PROTEK GI supports total digestive health and helps during times of gastrointestinal (GI) upset.
PROTEK GI is Kelato’s ultimate supplement, designed to support both foregut and hindgut health. Backed by research, daily use of PROTEK GI helps reduce gastric ulcers and supports overall digestive function.
What It Does:
-
Optimizes Stomach Health: Coating agents form an alkaline barrier over the stomach wall, protecting against acid burn, buffering gastric acid, and strengthening the mucosal lining.
-
Supports Gut Health: Levucell SC® yeast probiotic and Agrimos® yeast prebiotic work together to reduce lactic acid in the hindgut, stabilize pH, and stimulate beneficial bacteria growth.
-
Boosts Digestion: Enhances feed conversion efficiency and digestion.
PROTEK GI helps your horse manage the stress of exercise, travel, and competition, resulting in improvements in:
-
Attitude
-
Performance
-
Coat quality
-
Appetite
-
Manure consistency
Formulated in collaboration with Dr. Ben Sykes, a leading expert in equine gastric health, PROTEK GI is the trusted choice for horses’ digestive well-being.
What’s the new research saying?
Trust the science! World leading Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS) authority Dr Ben Sykes explains more about why he uses and recommends PROTEK GI, the new research and how this could benefit your horse in this short video.
PROTEK GI can help your horse transition from treatment to management.
Research on Omeprazole Withdrawal & Ulcer Recurrence
-
The risk of squamous ulcers returning is highest in the 2–4 days following omeprazole treatment. A strong focus on management practices can be implemented to protect the stomach during this time, but omeprazole tapering may be a thing of the past.
Review the research on omeprazole discontinuation and rebound gastric acidity.
- In highly ulcerogenic environments, squamous ulcers can return to pre-treatment levels in as little as 3 days.
-
Transitioning to PROTEK GI (also known as GastroAID Recovery) when stopping omeprazole has been shown to reduce the recurrence rate of squamous ulcers in a high-risk population of racehorses.
Review the research on omeprazole withdrawal and ulcer recurrence.
Research Supporting Long-Term Digestive Health
- Research evaluating a combination of pectin-lecithin, live yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077), and magnesium hydroxide demonstrated reduced worsening of gastric ulcers in Thoroughbred racehorses compared to placebo-treated horses.
Review the clinical study on nutritional support for equine gastric ulcer management.
